Students
Take a Stand Against Relationship Violence
Newfield
High School Students Say, "See It, Stop It"
SUFFOLK COUNTY, NY, June 6 - Recently, students at Newfield High School
in Selden took a stand against relationship violence, donating $2,000
to the Suffolk County Coalition Against Domestic Violence (SCCADV). This
contribution will go to support much-needed services that provide victims
with shelter and safety. Celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, SCCADV
offers victims preventative and supportive services to end violence in
their lives. The students at Newfield High School, and their advisor Ms.
Michelle Konik and, formed the group "SARA," Students Against Relationship
Abuse. Teens are a great risk for domestic violence, nearly one in three
girls in high school is likely to be hit or beaten by their partner. Their
generosity and support is much appreciated by SCCADV. If you are in need
of help, please contact our hotline at 631-666-7181. Pictured are members
of SARA with their advisor, Ms. Konik, Principal of Newfield High School,
Gordon Brosdal and Karin Romans, Director of Development at SCCADV.
