Students Take a Stand Against Relationship Violence
Newfield High School Students Say, "See It, Stop It"
SUFFOLK COUNTY, NY, June 6 - Recently, students at Newfield High School in Selden took a stand against relationship violence, donating $2,000 to the Suffolk County Coalition Against Domestic Violence (SCCADV). This contribution will go to support much-needed services that provide victims with shelter and safety. Celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, SCCADV offers victims preventative and supportive services to end violence in their lives. The students at Newfield High School, and their advisor Ms. Michelle Konik and, formed the group "SARA," Students Against Relationship Abuse. Teens are a great risk for domestic violence, nearly one in three girls in high school is likely to be hit or beaten by their partner. Their generosity and support is much appreciated by SCCADV. SCCADV's Executive Director stands with representatives of the Suffolk County Deputy Sheriff's Police Benevolent Association who kindly donated goods to the Safe Harbor Shelter.


Representatives from New York Community Bank are recognized for their work in gathering diapers for the Safe Harbor Shelter.


Managers from various branches of New York Commercial Bank are recognized for their commitment to ending domestic violence as the bank participated in a Mother's Day appeal that raised money for the Suffolk County Coalition Against Domestic Violence.
