Hours: Monday to Friday 4:30pm-12:30am

The full time Housing Support Assistant will work out of the Safe Harbor Shelter answering the 24 hour hotline, conducting intake screenings for potential residents, tending to the needs of current residents and overseeing the activities of the Shelter. Extensive training provided.

Part Time Educator - Location: Town of Islip/Suffolk County
Hours: 24 hours per week
Start Date: January 1, 2015

The part time Educator will be responsible for working as part of a collaborative effort with another local service provider to conduct outreach and provide educational workshops and presentations to adults and other bystanders on the issue of domestic violence and sexual assault. Additionally, the part time Educator will be responsible for monthly and quarterly reports required by SCCADV as well as the program funding source. Hours of work will vary according to program needs.
Minimum qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree, 1-3 years’ experience in domestic violence and sexual assault related field, good interpersonal and communication skills, must be willing to drive to locations throughout Suffolk County.

Precinct Advocate - Location: Suffolk County
Hours: Friday-Sunday 3pm-11pm, Tuesday & Wednesday 8:30am-4:30pm
Start Date: January 1, 2015 or sooner

Precinct Advocate will work three evenings per week in his/her designated Precinct providing victims of domestic violence with crisis intervention services, information on rights and options regarding the criminal justice process and information & referrals to all SCCADV services as well as outside resources. Additionally, the Precinct Advocate will work one business day in the Suffolk County courts assisting clients in obtaining orders of protection and one business day in the SCCADV administrative office. Extensive paid training Monday – Friday 8:30am-4:30pm. Upon completion of training work hours will be Friday-Sunday 3pm-11pm, Tuesday & Wednesday 8:30am-4:30pm. Strong organizational and communication skills required. Bilingual individuals encouraged to apply.
Minimum qualifications: A commitment to working with people whose lives have been affected by domestic violence. Associates degree in related field; experience working with domestic violence issues and/or similar type work with not for profit.

House Manager - Location: Town of Islip
Hours: Monday – Friday 8:30am-4:30pm
Start Date: September 29, 2014

The House Manager is responsible for the day to day functioning of the shelter household. This staff member ensures that the facility is in excellent working order; including responsibility for minor facility repairs and the coordination of shelter upkeep and necessary medium to major repairs. The House Manger assists residents in their daily living needs, by providing transportation to appointments, facilitating house meetings, grocery shopping, coordinating donations and weekly meal planning.
Minimum qualifications: A commitment to working with people whose lives have been affected domestic violence. High School diploma, group home/shelter experience. Strong organizational skills required. Ability to complete minor household repairs a plus. A valid NYS Driver’s License. Bilingual individuals encouraged to apply.
